This morning, Cutter Loose is underway from Trellis Bay at 6:55 AM. We are on a mission to rendezvous with our friend Greta who is vacationing in St. Thomas and will be taking the 8 AM ferry to West End, Tortola. Greta is the hard-working, efficient manager of Osprey Point Marina in Rock Hall, MD, home port of Cutter Loose. She is joined today by her fiancée, Allie as well as Allie’s parents, Linda and Pete.
With light winds from the east and Greta at the helm, it is a relaxing one hour sail through Thatch Island Cut to our mooring at Great Harbor on the Island of Jost Van Dyke, BVI. Once ashore, a stop at Foxy’s beach bar is mandatory. Foxy is off-island today, but his likeness adorns a prominent spot on the stage. As instructed, we return to West End in time for our guests to board the 4 PM ferry back to Charlotte Amalie. We thoroughly enjoy spending the day with our visitors from Maryland.
There is just enough daylight remaining this afternoon to clear customs at BVI and sail to a remote anchorage for the night. At 5 PM, Cutter Loose is tucked neatly into nearby Watermelon Bay with tiny Watermelon Cay to the north and the steep volcanic mountains of St. John to the south. It is a lovely place to spend the evening.
